Hey Girl, Part 2…

Posted on

Since it would be unfair to leave Frog out of the fun, I made one up for him too.  Unfortunately, he has asked that I not come to his class’s party– for the first time ever.  I know we are getting to that stage, but it still makes me sad.  I’m linking up again at the Hey Girl Linky Party.

Valentine’s Day Pillow Cover

Posted on

I went to Michael’s about two weeks ago to look for muslin for our homemade lightbox, and got to browsing the Valentine’s Day section.  I found these things called ‘party felt’ that were located in the baking area.  I suppose they could be used for trivets or party table decorations.  There were a variety of of hot pink and red ones.   It reminded me of a project I saw on Pinterest last year.  I bought one that read “Love” on it, and picked up some pink flannel at the nearby fabric store– where I also found the muslin I was looking for.  I thought that I wouldn’t make a pillow for valentine’s day, as pillows take up a lot of room in storage.  Rather, I would make an envelope pillow cover that would fold flat into a storage bin.

Meal Plan Monday: Week of February 4th

Posted on

We are doing a great job with the meal plans around here.  There is only one day that I didn’t get around to cooking, and we had enough back up dinner in the house to make it work.  It does take so much stress out of the evening for us to know what we are going to be eating each night at the start of the day.

mpm-1

This week we are trying no new recipes, but I am cooking several that I can share with everyone later:

  • Monday: Heavenly Slow Cooker Chicken (Recipe to follow at later date) with mashed potatoes and pole beans
  • Tuesday: Mario’s Special Spaghetti with Sweet Baby Peas
  • Wednesday: You are on your Own/Leftovers
  • Thursday: Garlic Lemon Chicken with white rice and baked zucchini
  • Friday: Henri’s Beef Stroganoff (Recipe to follow at later date) with Henri’s Saffron rice and asparagus
  • Saturday: Eating out!!!
  • Sunday: Flank Steak (Recipe to follow at later date; I made this last week, but forgot to take pictures, so we’re having it again!) with mashed potatoes and Sweet baby peas

You’ll notice that one of the most challenging things for me about cooking is having a variety of main courses and sides. We tend to either have rice or mashed potatoes with our main course, and one of 3 veggies that I know the boys will eat– asparagus, peas or zucchini. We tend to add in Steak Fries and Edamame to mix things up, but I need to branch out and find more side dishes!

Weird True Love: A Printable

Posted on

Well, I was returning yesterday from the Target pharmacy where I had stopped to pick up Monkey’s acid reflux medicine.  Bless his little heart, he is the happiest of babies, but he does spit up, and sometimes it makes him quite uncomfortable.  As I was walking back to my car, I saw a quote written on the windshield of someone’s car.  It read:

“We’re all a little weird. And life is a little weird. And when we find someone whose weirdness is compatible with ours, we join up with them and fall into mutually satisfying weirdness—and call it love—true love.”

Chicken Marsala

Posted on

My wonderful mother-in-law got me a subscription to Taste of Home magazine for Christmas.  It’s a magazine that is entirely recipes, and a lot of them are easy ones– the kind that don’t take hours to make.  In my first copy, there was a recipe for Speedy Chicken Marsala, and I tried out the recipe.  I had to make a few tweaks, as I didn’t have the exact ingredients, but I was quite pleased with the outcome.  I thought I’d share the recipe here,  as I love finding yummy, quick dinners for my family.
